Well..In my quest for the etherial 1911 I stumbled upon a fairly clean Kimber TLE Custom 2. I thought the price was reasonable and layed it away. Upon getting the gun I stripped it and did a little clean up/polishing to it. The fit was VERY GOOD and everything cleaned up well. The trigger is very nice breaking at 4.5 pounds with no creep or overtravel. The OEM Mep nights are still burning bright and the gun is just solid. Id give the finish an 80-85% with some holster wear and safe scratches..I can live with that. The gun had a steel MSH installed and the front strap checkering is still in very good shape.
I polished up the guide rod, barrel feed ramp, bushing and other goodies to a nice shine just for the sake of doing it and was quite happy with my results.
Now to shoot it. 12Volt and I met up yesterday and went shooting. We had to give the CZ Custom a goodbye shoot and verify its accuracy and function.......which it did very very well.
The Kimber felt familiar in my hands and the bummer was I only had on Metalform mag that came with the gun. Ive got 4 more on the way but are not here yet. After some initial rounds down range the gun was shooting left a tad. I drifted the rear sight a little and now this thing started getting into its comfort zone.
This group was NOT the best of the day but was a better group shot from this gun. Only cheap FMJ was shot during the session and this is the one I kept.

12 volt was quite amazed at the little shooter......the first 3 rounds he shot through it went through the same hole! After each of the 3 shots I hear him yell "Ok...Im gonna stop now!" :D

Ive missed my 1911's, with my fav being my STI Trojan....this gun I will say is damn near the STI's equal in EVERY regard. The price for this gun was 1/2 what I had into the STI......so to say the least Im happy with this one!

Its a shooter and its gonna be in my safe for a bloody long time. I just wanted to be a proud father for a while and let you all see my new kid.

Shoot well and thanks..............

Sweeeeeet shooter eric.........Your magic touch is gonna make it even better, so what is next, hakans for sure huh? Congrats, you got a good deal, makes losing the cz40 a little easier to swallow I'll bet......tom

Yo, Eric...

I must have been in a coma or something, but I completely missed the Custom CZ40 auction thread. Tough decision to give it up, but cool way to help the forum. Who ended up getting it? Lucky dog, whoever it is!

Bill ( MIKO912)

This gun was quite a shooter. Eric kept blasting through the same hole again and again at 10 and 15 yards. I shot very well with it to. We compared my CZ97 to it. I shot both guns and did slightly better with the CZ. Eric shot both guns and did slightly better with the Kimber. Who knows which is better. Both are damn fine guns and very accurate.
Now I may need a 1911 :D

Congrats! It looks like you got a "shooter" there.

12Volt: Yes, you do need a 1911.

Trivia: 12Volt's 97 is owned or has been owned by 3 respondants to this thread-that thing is getting around!

That is a funny trivia question MiniZ. :D It took a while, but it finally found a perminant home LOL.

Make that 4 respondents, if it is the CZ 97 I'm thinking of. I'm the one that rescued it from California and brought it to Utah. :p But I suppose I only owned it for a couple of days.

Congrats on the Kimber. They are wonderful handguns. I have certainly enjoyed mine.

Wow, I did not know that part of the story. We'll all have to get together this spring for a "family reunion".

Sorry we hijacked your thread Eric.:D Praises to the mighty Kimber!
