Picked up my new Springfield Armory pistol from the FFL today and am a bit disappointed.
For some reason, I thought it would be smaller than my G29. And while the measurements show that it is narrower, it is about a 1/4" longer, same height, but it just feels larger.
Grip is just a bit narrower, but the frame and slide are noticeably bigger...
My whole point of getting it was to replace a G23 and the G29 as my city and woods carry pistols, respectively.
But, the trigger on the SA is superior over the stock Glock set up. Glock comes in at 5.5lbs and feels like you are dragging a spoon through a bucket of marbles. That's after 5 years of shooting.
The SA trigger breaks at about 4.5 lbs and is crisp with a wonderful reset.
It feels good in the hand, but only after I removed the magwell. Before I did that, my pinky dangled awkwardly under it.
Other than feeling larger, it is a more solid feeling and quality-feeling handgun. The Glock rattles a bit and just feels looser.
However, I may have to send it back to the factory due to it having some annoying imperfections in the polymer.
I try not to be too picky with defensive pistols. Heck, my G29 is pretty battle worn from extensive carry in the woods.
But, the polymer looks like there were some issues with the mold or something.
And, the gun has obviously been fired. Ordered it off of Gunbroker from a shop in NC with a high rating, but my FFL asked if the gun was new or used when I picked it up since he saw barrel hood wear.
Upon tear down, the barrel was filthy...
So, not sure how to proceed. SA will hopefully replace the frame with a blem-free one. But, not sure if worth going after the FFL for shooting my pistol before shipping it. Shooting was likely very low round count.
