And my Walther PK380 has be undergoing warranty work for the last month!

Small single stack 9mm seem to be what is dominating the market right now. If they made something similar to the walther pps I would definatly be all over that

Just remember that the XDs are made in Croatia. They could not import a smallish, pocket .380. It would have to be a PK380 size or larger to pass the points test. But I think anything that size will be 9mm and still somewhat tactical, resembling a PPS more than a LC9. That said, if they released a PPS competitor, I'd be all over it.

I am still guessing a .45 compact, leaning towards the 4.5" barrel over the 3.8.

It's discussed on this week's Gun Talk, hour 3 (part C).
Didn't pay much attention (was listening in the background) as the M models are yawners fer me, but I think it was built from a wish list from Rob Leatham for competition. I think it's a 9mm with a long slide and other competition goodies since some classes say if it's not factory, you can't use it.

If its a a 9mm with a long slide for competition then I'm annoyed.
Ya better download/listen to part C in the link above, since after I heard what it was I kinda tuned out...

Just scanned the episode-you'll get the basics within the first 4 minutes:
XDM 9mm 525 competition series (5.25" barrel length)
Competition adjustable sights (allowed in competition since from factory)
Fiber Optic front sight
Widened Slide

Neat options if they offer them at a decent price. If they add another $250 it will be a disappointment.

The only question I have is, will it come with just 2 magazines or 3. The reviewers pictures of the case and everything that comes with it is different than what is being advertised on Springfield's site.

Case with 3 mags

I'd love to see it come with 3 personally.

Yep, looks like we have a fancy 19+1 G34 on our hands.:p When the .40S&W version comes out, I might be tempted to trade in my G35 for one.

Doesn't matter too much since it is geared toward competition as you'll be buying several more, anyway. Personally I'm not satisfied without 8 or 9 magazines for a handgun that I shoot often. But yeah, 1 extra is always great. Or since it is competition oriented, go ahead and make it 5 or 6 mags! :)

I recently sold an XDM that I didn't like too much. I hope to see one of these pop up at a rental range!

This is something Ive been considering for some time. Almost pulled the trigger on the 5" XD a few times, glad I waited now.

The XD & XDM mags are not interchangable correct?

Now more than ever this would make an awesome 10MM gun.

My prediction for the future "tactical" version: they close up the top of the slide to make the action more resistant to the elements and give it night sights and that's about it.
