New York hunters

I bought a Ruger 77/44mag on one of my budweiser nights. It has the rings but no scope. What power scope would you put on it?

I was thinking a 2x7 or a 3x9 leupold or a vintage Redfield.

I just bid on a couple or 6x18 redfields for the Remington 22/250.

I've been wanting to do some saltwater fishing, freshwater bores me anymore other then panfish. Me any my buddy would drive down for the day, either nj or ct. We like catching the fluke and porgies, we have a few peirs we like but will go on a boat if we have money.

I need to pick up a smoker for down by me, since I'm close to the Delaware there's good eel fishing.

If I had the money is get my pa and nj hunting licence. I know some farms that would probably let me hunt in nj, don't know how it would work with the firearms id you need tho.

Pa just state land would be fine,

My dads cousin Sam, we kids called him Uncle, had a boat, 40 ft dive boat, in NJ, that he took me on. In between dives for lobster EE caught sea bass. It's been 25 years since I've been salt water fishing.

Sounds like you need to go lol. Should plan a trip some time. If you have a ny fishing license it's good down there.

Did any of you guys do any striper fishing on the Hudson this year? From Croton Point up to Newburgh was pretty good fishing when I lived there. I guess the season just ended.

I used to slip my boat in Croton-on-Hudson.
I have not went in a few years, I'm about 45 minutes from Newburgh/ beacon bridge. It's hardly worth going with the new regulations.

I've have the Delaware by my house I've caught a few stripers there, but mostly shad fish and catfish.

Got out shooting today, got the target as far as I could safely. Maybe 80 yards. Load work up went well, the barrel was a little hot I only waited a minute or two between groups.

Only did 3 round groups, mostly because I was unsure where I would hit pressure or bad ejector marks. And I got all my brass fired now.

I read online guys getting a good node at around 57-58 with the h1000 I got the it at 57.0 and 57.5.

I really could not get steady, a rear bag would of helped. I felt I pulled the last shot on the 59.0

57 and 57.5 look real good you could reshoot the 59.0 group later to tell for sure.

Looking at the hornady data 57 should be about 3000 fps with a 140. Even if it was 2900 or 2850 that's plenty for me.

Recoil was light even at 59.0
Looking at the brass it should go a grain or more if I wanted.

I like the home made targets for ladder loads so you have all of the targets on one page to look at and compare to other loads you make up.

Your 57.0 and 57.5 loads look good. When I do my ladder loads I start at the bottom and work them up. I never load to the max, I keep them one or two grains below max.

There is a local guy that dibbles in reloading stuff so I buy his partial boxes of bullets to test in my guns.
Once I seewhat has potential then I will buy new bullets to load up and tweek.

I think I was just getting another good node at 59.0, but from what I read online guys were hitting the accuracy node at 57 grains. I still think I can go a grain or two more but no need. The prc data is on the light side, guys are sticking more than that with 150s with no problems.
