Hey there everyone,
I just got back from the local outdoor range with my "new" yugo SKS.
I say "new" because even though it is probably 30 years or more old, it has never been fired before me!
This rifle for those of you who don't already know....is a blast!
I shot a total of 140 rounds, combination of wolf/WWB.
No issues what so ever...fed and fired every single round and
talk about accurate...i am very impressed. This is the first rifle I have owned/shot since I was probably 11 years old....can't believe I waited this long!
My first time shooting the SKS and I was hitting the target with almost every single shot..from about the 50 yard mark...my target was a 8.5 x 11 inch size
and I was shooting with just the iron sights on the rifle , no scope.
The recoil on the rifle which shoots the same round as an AK-47, the 7.62 x 39mm, is nice a very enjoyable round to shoot. It has a nice punch to it.
If any of you were thinking of getting an SKS...I can say whole heartedly...just do it. I got mine locally, and paid a little more because of it(about $250 including tax/fees for my yugo 59/66 with grenade launcher and bayonet/night sights.) But I did not have to spend any time cleaning it...just went straight to the range and let her ripppp!
If you do get an SKS...the YUGO SKS does have a more quality build to it..
it is meant to last and has a very nice wood stock....I'll be refinishing that shortly...
Wink Wink
Anyhow... I am very happy with my purchase and hope this helps anyone who is on the fence about it.
Later...."
