Alright, I'm a newbie when it comes to this AR-15 thing. Anyway, here's my question....I recently bought a AR-15 carbine and it came with a Magpul MOE collapsable stock. I want to change it out for a Vltor Emod Stock so I bought one. Now, I have no idea on how to swap it out. The Emod I bought did not come with the buffer tube, spring, or piston, just the stock. Can I put it on my AR that came with the Magpul MOE? If so, how do I go about this?

Thanks,

No problem! The press the release lever then grab the forward edge and pull or pry it down, then pull the stock straight back and off. What you are doing is over extending the release and sliding back and off. Same or similar operation to put the new stock on.

You might be able to just put it on the stock tube.

the lever used to adjust the stock now, pull that roll pin down a little further and it will slide off, then slide on the Emod... I don't own an Emod but i own the MOE edition M&P but i bet it will just slide right on.

The MAGPUL MOE and VLTOR EMod stocks come in commercial and milspec sizes to fit commercial or milspec tubes. Just a thought.

:)

Thanks very much guys! I love this board because of the quick responses. I haven't even tried to remove the MOE stock as I didn't wan't to try anything before getting at least a little insight into what I was in for. I made sure to by the mil-spec sized Vltor as that is what is on my gun.
Thank again.

Extend the MOE stock all the way. Grab the entire adjustment lever and pull down all the way, and slide the stock body off the buffer tube.

Slide the EMod stock body onto the buffer tube until it stops. Pull the entire adjustment lever down until it stops, and slide the stock body the rest of the way onto the buffer tube.

Easy :)
