I'd like to start collecting Civil War and old-west Era weapons, and am interested in getting a 1861 Springfield Rifle-musket, and a Trapdoor Springfield. I'm not looking for ultra-rare specimens, just pieces in reasonable shape to hang on the wall. The ability to safely shoot them would be a secondary goal.

I'd like to get an idea as to current price ranges for these two guns in decent condition, and any suggestions as to the best place to shop for them.
Thanks in advance.

I assume you are looking for replicas as opposed to original guns. If so, I suggest you contact the North-South Skirmish Association (N-SSA). Their members often have good specimens of just about every gun used during that era.
