I’m a reloading newbie about to reload 45acp for the first time. I will be using Winchester large (large/magnum) pistol primers, bullseye powder and Berry’s preferred plated FP 200gr bullets.

I can’t definitively find a load recipe in any manual because of the bullets I have. The best I can tell I need to start with a charge weight of 4.5 grains.

I would appreciate any advice.

I have used 5.4g of Bullseye with 200g ENC Combat Target FP with Winchester LP and a OAL of 1.240 and they worked great. No problems and very accurate. Hope this helps.

Check the Berry's site to see what they recommend.

added on edit: see Walkalong's link below for load data.

4.5 Grs of Bullseye and the Berrys 200 Gr FP is going to be very light. That is fine if that is what you want, but 5.0 is a more appropriate starting point IMHO. That should give close to 800 FPS and cycle your pistol well.

I haven't tried the Berrys 200 Gr FP because the Ranier 200 Gr FP did not excite me. I do however, really like the Berrys 200 Gr HP in .45 ACP. Feeds great, shoots great, cuts nice holes in targets, and hits pins with authority, although not like the 230 Gr stuff.

Plated bullets do not need to be limited by lead data.
