Newbie paranoia

A little nervous, yes. Was 17 years old and had no one to help me, plus hadn't quite figured out half what old Elmer and Grennell were talking about in the gun mags. I just followed the instructions that came with the Lee Loader right to the letter. That was 1973, or there-abouts, and I've been "reading the directions" ever since. I'm still here. Still have all my fingers, too!

reloading process – I loaded the powder so light the pistol wouldn’t cycle properly.

Same here! Unfortunately I have about 200 of those rounds left :(
 
Yes, I was very nevous the first time I pulled the trigger, but after 2 magazines fired and no issues, I got comfortable in a hurry.:D Since then, I've loaded probably 7500 rounds of 40 S&W and haven't had any issues. I'll never forget the first trigger pull, pounding heart, deep breath, and cringing as I pulled the trigger, lol.
