Getting set up to do my first reloads, and ended up getting some slightly mismatched supplies. I see a few people online saying it works, but since I can't find any data for it in the manuals I am reluctant to try it.

Here's what I've got:
44 mag / 44 special dies and brass
CCI 350 Large Magnum Pistol primers
Berry's 240 gr .44 cal (.429) plated FP (whoops)
Alliant 2400

First off, Alliant recommends CCI 300, not 350. Second, Berry's recommends sub 1250 fps for their bullets (~1175 preferred).

Is there some combination I can use to get some light-to-medium .44 mag or .44 special loads? Note this is my first time loading, so I'm not looking for power so much as safety right now.

If I just done screwed up :p, can anyone recommend what powder and/or primers to get to use with the Berry's? I'd rather not have to rebuy everything. Live and learn.

I appreciate your knowledge and guidance!

Load the Berry's. Pay attention that you don't deform and make the bullets undersize when seating/crimping. During the primer shortage many a mismatched component was used. Keep good notes. Are you loading for a 44 REM MAG? if so, i'd try and return or resale the 44 Special brass. Having two lengths of brass that look the same can cause issues and you have to reset your seating die.

The .44 special brass I have is leftover from a box of Fiocci's I fired off, so nothing lost there! I'll load for whichever round best fits the components I ended up with.

I don’t think those bullets have a cannelure. So you must taper crimp or use a extremely light roll crimp to avoid breaking through the plating. You make it hard on yourself by not finding data and then acquiring components. However you should be able to use all the components you have just load lightly and carefully.
