I have yet to see one in person, but are the newer Ruger Ranch Rifles (Mini-14's) equipped with a plastic rear sight aperature? I certainly hope not but pics make it look plastic.
The "new" mini-14s are fantastic, they fixed every problem that I had with my "old" mini-14. The sights are protected by "wings" front and rear. The barrel is thicker and doesn't get inaccurate when it heats up. Ruger now sells 20 and 30 round magazines to the public. The Rifle is half the price of a decent AR.
