The video to the right of the above linked page is worth watching. At one point the reporter points the gun at the camera guy and dry fires it . I got a laugh when I heard her say it was "perfectly legal" um not quite. Would this not be considered a AOW by the NFA act. Yes I know they are legal with a stamp (not sure if AOWs are allowed in NJ) but she makes it sound like this is something you can pick up at any old Wal-Mart or sporting goods store.
CBS) NEWARK We all know knives can be dangerous, but one knife hitting the streets has police extremely worried.
This particular knife is really a gun in disguise.
This weapon is so dangerous that authorities are sending an alert out to police departments across the nation, warning officers to be cautious.
CBS 2 News has just obtained video of this knife that fires bullets.
It looks like a knife, but it's actually a gun and it can fire up to five rounds.
"It's as dangerous as whenever a police officer encounters an individual anytime with a weapon," said Gerard McAleer of the Drug Enforcement Agency.
"When you don't see the weapon, when it's an undercover illegal weapon like that there's concern because something you may not think is a threat actually is."
DEA officials in Newark said weapons like this are usually manufactured in someone's garage or overseas.
The target population?
''The gangsters, the lawbreakers," McAleer said.
Law enforcement officials said there are a number of weapons that pose a threat to police. One such weapon is a pen gun and another is a legal knife gun.
"What's happening with drug traffickers and other gang-bangers on the streets is they're taking innocuous objects and making firearms with them," McAleer said.
So far, New Jersey officials said they haven't seen the knife-gun used in any crimes on the streets.
However, they are on the look out.
The other weapon they're very concerned about is a gun that's disguised as a Blackberry.
