It appears from my research on NH's website as well as usacarry.com that New Hampshire has no class requirements to obtain a Concealed Carry Permit. It looks like you just send the application into your local PD. Can anyone verify this? *Referring to full time residents, I know the process for non-resident application*

I'm trying to research the process for my grandfather who wants his conceal carry. Trying to make it very quick and simple for him.

Thanks in advance.

Tell him to move over here to 'The Grants' (that's Vermont for those of you 'from away'), and then he doesn't have to ask anyone's permission to exercise his rights...

Only half joking...

You are correct as far as I know or can find...The application is made locally for NH residents...He needs to take the form to his local PD...If his town has no PD, then he presents the form to his town Select Board...His 'reason' on the form should be 'Self Defense' which has been upheld to be a 'proper purpose'...

Form link is at the top:

That's how it reads to me too, thanks. I'm just surprised because in Maine you have to take a safety course first.
One of the few times we're more restricted than others.

Sounds like you have your answer, but I'll reaffirm (since I live here in NH).

The only thing required to get a CCW permit in NH as a resident is a reasonably clean background, permit fees, and some mild paper work.

No courses, no fingerprinting, no photo. Assuming you're not a criminal and none of your references say you're anywhere near insane, 14 days later you have your permit (or a letter explaining why they denied you - and it better be a really good reason).

One of the great things about NH is that our firearms laws (non-hunting related ones anyway) can fit on about two pages of printed paper with some room to spare. Very simple.

Hopefully we'll get full constitutional carry at some point in the future, but with Lynch in there it's going to be a process (thank the gods this is his last year...).

Ya I'm hoping they get the Constitutional carry law passed too. Thanks for the confirmation shadowen.
