I have a chance to purchase a NIB, stainless(1984 vintage)Colt Combat Commander(.45ACP)for $745! I would like to take a poll from you Colt 1911-A1 experts, to determine which autoloader I should buy, in terms of the best quality and best value: 1)The NIB 80 Series(1984 vintage) stainless,Combat Commander .45($745)? or, 2)The NEW(NRM)stainless Colt Commander .45 for $849? NOTE: These are CA("PRK")prices! Since this would be my very first autoloader, I'd appreciate getting your reasons(Pro or Con?)as to why you would pick one over the other? Also, I'd like to know how the overall quality might compare between these two autoloaders? Are they both pretty equal-or, is one clearly superior to the other? Please clarify your answers, for this "Newbie" in the world of colt 1911's? Thanks!  :uhoh:

Well, since there are NUMEROUS rave reviews on the NRM Colts, myself included... I'd opt for the NRM Commander. Shop around, or stop by The Gunsight if you're in Socal.

I believe George sells commanders for $724 or so?

The shop is located in Fullerton, CA. PM if you need more detail.

Personally, for a first autoloader, I'd rather have a new gun than a used one, especially at that close of a price difference.

And Blued looks better :D

I bought a Stainless NRM Commander from George at Gunsight back in March for $695. Of course it was on sale, but George usually has a decent collection of Colts and the best prices I've seen in So Kal. Give the above info, I'd take the NRM. Every NRM Colt I've had a chance to look at up close has been of very good quality overall. Some of the best guns Colt has ever made.
