I picked this up this summer @ a lgs.
Something about a vintage S&W revolver that catches my eye, but its always a coin toss if the price is gonna be reasonable.
Price tag was $699, a little steep but took a look at it anyways. Checked the timing/trigger, forcing cone, top strap, screws, and the grips are numbered to the gun. All were in Exc condition to my surprise, no box or paperwork though. This is a young gun, and didn't look like it was shot much. My first K frame magnum, S&W 65-2 manufactured in 1977. I went and put a handful of 38s through her and she did not disappoint o_O

Handsome find. Price not unreasonable, at least, around here. Solid sixgun; I'd carry it.

I picked up a nice 67-1 a couple of years ago, for nostalgia reasons, as that was my first issued sidearm back in 1987. I overpaid for it at the time ($625-ish?) because I got into a bidding war on GB; when it ended, I was in the same parking lot as the seller's business, so I didn't mind paying a bit of a premium for being able to walk in and claim it.

Thanks for sharing.

Nice!

The grip checkering looks too sharp to have been carried much, does it even have a turn line?

I haven't shot in a year and a half for fun since this disease started, but had to re-qual for HR218 last Wed. Used my 65-5 for the revolver portion and rediscovered what a joy it is to shoot.

Good luck with it!

I’ll say this.. these pictures have made me want magna stocks on my new 64-6 that’s coming! The rubber just doesn’t do it for me but I wanted to keep it “original”. Magna’s here I come. Looks great

Turn line is quite faint.
Action feels silky smooth

Very nice, looks brand new. Those stocks are called "PC magna", note the bottom edge is rounded off rather than square. Made for less printing and better comfort when carried concealed. I'd love a M65 to add to my collection of magnum revolvers. I have a M66-1, a M65 would make a great companion piece.

The Magna stocks are great when paired with a BK grip adapter. On their own they just never feel right in my hand.

I’d want gold for that New Orleans vibe :)
Yes, it would make pimpin' easy.
Here's my 64-3, don't think I haven't thought about putting some pearl grips on there lol. The top one is a T-grip and the bottom has a matte black BK adapter, hard to see it because of the black background.

Nice magnum k frame. If you think that was a bit steep, don't even look at what the ones with a 3 inch barrel are going for

That’s a looker, I probably would’ve bought it right away as well!

A Model 65 is one K frame I don’t have, it’s a hole in the safe that’ll need to be filled at some point. If can find one as nice as that one it’ll certainly be a bonus :).

When you get a chance to give it some exercise with a variety of ammo take some target pics and let us know how it shoots across the spectrum ;).

Stay safe.
