If you are looking for a particular revolver specimen and had the choice between any finish, which would you pick?

I don't care if its a S&W 19/66, 25/625, a Ruger or whatever. The stainless can be regular, bead blasted or high polished. The blue can be polished as well or matte. Let's say the Nickel is brand spanking new and shiny. Whichever would be your ideal.

Oh, and lets assume whether its Ruger, Colt or S&W, that all companies made ready supplies of all finishes TODAY. I don't want people voting on blued for the sole reason that somebody doesn't make them any more.

If *ALL* factors were equal, which finish is your favorite?

Stainless cos I am a lazy SOB and rust is the enemy! I do also like the look .. certainly for revo's. It is a tad reflective tho of course.

With semi's maybe I favor parkerized the most - if you can find it .. same with rifles.

blued is the way to go because it fits with the feel of shooting a wheelgun rather that the "tool" the the pistol is.

if i'm using a wheelgun as a "tool" i prefer eloectroless nickle or hardchrome because the resist scratches better that stainless

I voted for stainless and one of the main reasons is that I always put Pachmayr rubber grips on my revolvers and they just don't seem to look good on blued guns.

I voted blued. There's nothing like a deep rich blue job on a revolver. Having said that I'm starting to like the looks of certain nickeled revos. Nickel has its place in my safe.

I don't like stainless and have no stainless guns but the new bead blasted F Comp might change that.

I can certainly understand people liking blue more. It sure is pretty. But I wasn't expecting such a depisal of staineless.

Nickel is nice on some show guns, but nothing really beats blued steel and good figured wood. Stainless, well others can talk about that.

Depends on the gun. I want a Ruger in stainless and another in blue. If a Colt Python, I'd love a blued revolver -- I like this finish best but at times, the stainless wins me over. Hard to choose just one...

Blued. I can see SS for a IWB carry piece that's exposed all day to corrosive sweat and such but that type of gun is seen more as a tool to me.

I find it ironic that I say all that pro-SS stuff and at the same time my only "carry" piece is a BLUED Chief's Special from 1971.:neener:

All my wheelguns are blued.

:D :D :D
