For some time now, Jack Fuselier has been nickel-plating slides on P32s. I've been tempted to have this process done, as its relatively affordable. I figure it should make corrosion even less of an issue. Plus, hey, I don't have any nickel-plated anything right now.

How has this worked out for other P32 owners? Do I need to take any special steps to maintain the nickel finish?

How does it affect the sights? Do I need to repaint them with red nail polish or something like that?

On a minor side note, have been thrilled with my P32 so far. Today I was shooting bowling pins at the range, and had one pin left standing that I missed with my 1911. From the 15yd line, I loaded one round into the P32, nailed the pin first shot. I'm only an average shot, so I was pretty pleased with myself. All in all, definitely a neat little mousegun.

Nickel plating requires care when cleaning. Ammonia based solvents can be a problem if left in contact for too long. I won't use ammonia on a nickel finish at all.
Did you know that KelTec will exchange your complete upper with one that has been hard-chromed for $20.00? This is a more durable finish, IMO.
I agree with your assesment of this little gun. I'm on the lookout for another.

I sent mine to Kel-Tec and got back the hard chromed slide.
I figured that was the only part of the gun that could rust, why not hard chrome it ?
I don't carry my Kel-Tecs much at all, but at the time I was carrying them using the clip. So, they were right up against my skin and I was sweating on them.

I have 2 P-32s. I have both the hard chrome and Jack's nickel plating. Both are great finishes. Jack recently reported having some problems with his plating tanks & wouln't be doing any nickel plating for a couple of weeks. Might check with him first.

I don't do anything special to maintain the nickel plating. I can't recall about the sites. I've got site paint and changed the color to red on the P-32 that Jack did. Don't remember if the white paint was still there or not.
