Sorry all, but just have to brag/share, whatever you may want to call it, but this was exciting for me! (best groups I've ever shot :) )

Shot my Model 70, 270 sporter today using cheap Winchester 270 150 grn power point ammo - 3 shot group covered by a nickel and 5 shot group covered by a dime.....bone stock 2012 Model 70 using a Nikon Monarch 5x20 scope.....

I'll be the first to congratulate you.

I absolutely think people should enjoy the milestones as they reach them. I also think people should let others enjoy theirs.

It is awesome that the 'cheap' ammo works well. I have a .270 that shoots Rem Core Lokts bullets in hand loads well. Having something that just works well with no fuss is nice.

Range? If 50 yards, that's decent. If 100 yards, that's better than average for a sporting weight stock rifle. If 200 yards, better than my varmint rifles with tailored handloads.

I don't blame you for being proud of that shooting. I was walking on clouds the first time I shot a new 30-06 load @100 yards and when I measured the 3 shot group they measured only .314"! I backed that up with another group of of .321". I know exactly how good you feel right now... Well done Sir!

Good shooting!

Check out OnTarget software. It lets you input the bullet holes and range and does the calculations of group size and MOA.

Great job!!!!

Try making a few sharpie marker dots. 1/2" to 1" or so, on a blank piece of paper, and shoot at those next time. Sometines the smaller the target, the smaller the group.

Thanks much for all the kind comments fellas!
And yes, I should have included the distance! (it was 100 yds)
While I was very pleased with my shooting, I was as impressed as anything with what one of my favorite rifles was able to accomplish using inexpensive off the shelf ammo!
