Finally got some blood on my Browning BAR I bought from THR member a year ago. Its a .30-06 longtrac, had a Vortex 4-12 on it but decided to set it up for hogs with my ATN Spartan with a big stream light IR illuminator on top. About 10 hogs showed up but two were feeding at 35 yards and I picked the biggest. 90 lb boar got it right in the vitals and still ran 50 yards in the thickest snake filled brush on the ranch. Congrats. Good pork! I need pork, but I'm letting my trap do the huntin'. Got it up here the other day. I have it set back in the back and can run back there on my KLR and check it every morning if I don't feel like walkin'. Got pigs on the game cam already. Just a matter of time. :D I ain't a night person. I've taken a few in daylight, but they are mostly nocturnal where my two places are.

Now, I could use that night optic thing. Wish they weren't such high dollar. I have a feeder set up at the edge of the woods behind my house about 50 yards away and a camera has already caught a porker in there at 2:30 AM or so. I have a motion detector back there, too. It was going off big time when that pig was in there. I turn it off, now, cause between the deer and hogs, it won't let me sleep. :D But, if they'd come in, say 9PM, I MIGHT take one. Then again, that'd mean I'd have to break out the works lights and stay up until I got it on ice. Bummer. LOL!

I miss hog hunting especially at night when I used to live down in South Texas. I always shoot them behind the ear. They fall on the spot after a loud squeal. I don't like to track animals in the dark.

Nice hog! Good eats!
