Decided to buy a scope for my new rifle I have yet to possess. After decideing my budget was about two hundred dollars, the doing the research--it came down to Nikon --prostaff or Buckamster. The sales person at Basspro and I had a hard time telling the difference between the two's image. I COULD NOT TELL TELL THE DIFFERENCE AS FAR AS THE IMAGE WS CONCERNED. The Buckmaster is a nicer, but the prostaff looks like it will be awesome. Took it out after dark and blown away with what I could see. Another week, I will find out how well it works. But it looks like a winner to me.

The Nikon Prostaff is a durable scope and has worked out well on my large bore Marlin 450, which has some hellacious recoil. I went with the Nikon because of price point and its features. It has good eye relief & light transmission, waterproof, fogproof, shockproof and the full lifetime warrenty. There's definitely nicer scopes out there, but I think the Nikon is the best in its price point.

Took it out last night--fantastic. I can only imagine how a $1500 scope looks. Can't wait to get it mounted.

Just bought my second; NIB on ebay for $149; no tax or shipping w/ BDC. I had planned to use the new one for converting my AK into a hog getter; those plans are on hold w/o a workable mount so I am in the market for another rifle to go w/ my new prostaff.

By the way, I am not a huge fan of the BDC circles as a sighting tool. I do not care for the only other option, the Nikoplex reticle. With or without the circles, the BDC has is pretty close to a German #4 reticle, which I like a lot.

Another good "feature" about the ProStaff is that nipple that sticks up on the Mag ring. Got something to grab onto when it`s cold and it seems stiff.
Especially with gloves on. :)
