OEM ROA nipples have a hex base, and so require a special nipple wrench (available from Ruger Customer Service) or you can use a deep well 1/4" drive socket. There are aftermarket nipples for the ROA that do not use the hex base, thus making a regular pistol nipple wrench usable for an ROA.

This is correct except the hex size is 3/16", unless Ruger changed their nipple dimensions.
I used a cheap 3/16" nut driver for years to remove and reinstall the nipples on my Old Army. Worked like a charm... much easier to use than the stock Ruger wrench that came with the revolver. Treso nipples now grace my cylinder, so I no longer use the nut driver.
I've got a deep socket for the ROA but where's the best place to get a regular wrench for the other two? I checked at Dixie and a few other places but the reviews have said the wrenchs are crap and break on the first use.
Taylor's has a good Nipple Wrench, their part number 1012, Wrench, revolver, hardened. Its price is $10.40. It is one of the few found that is not destroyed by a stubborn nipple.
Well, bought one from Taylor's (one of the hardened ones, was about $16 with shipping)....it broke on the second nipple....but they are sending me another one......
