I will be in Minnesota next week, I know they have a requirement for signs that prohibit CCW. I would like to know if I would not notice the sign and go in anyway is this a big deal. I know that in some states you will just be asked to leave and if you do so without any argument there is no problem. Or would police be called and a big deal made of it? Thanks, Jim.

That would depend a lot on the person who saw you with the gun and where you are in the state (Twin Cities = bad). I'd recommend against carrying in any place marked just to be safe. I figure if someone went to the trouble of putting up the sign, they're probably not going to be very understanding.

While people have been known to get hassled if it becomes known they are carrying, legally, carrying in areas posted in compliance with state law only becomes punishable if you refuse to leave when asked. And then the penalty is only a $25 dollar misdemeanor fine.

FWIW, concealed means concealed, If you're likely to get made while carrying, it's time to invest in a better rig.

I was downtown Minneapolis today and had my CCW, my gun is concealed, I don't look for signs and they (the signs)don't stop me, my family knows I carry and they have no problem.

I have been "spotted" packing by a neighbor in the past, he said " is that a pistol?", I said yes..he smiled and said OK!

If by some miracle I was spotted and stopped in a store or other ( NO GUNS ) building, and was asked to leave, I'd say OK, turn around and leave.
No Problem!

I'm in mpls. every day. Nobody actually pays that much attention to other people, and if you do get asked to leave, just leave. There are only a few places where the law forbids. Go to Packing.org and read up. Otherwise I don't bother to read the ''advertisements'' placed all over the place.

If you have a Permit that is honored in Minnesota, the signs on private property mean zilch...nada...and can be ignored.

There is no crime in Minnesota for carrying through a compliant sign (and MN does require magic words, fonts, sizes, locations etc) to be compliant.

The penalty, if any, is when you are asked to leave and refuse. Ergo, there is no legal violation for ignoring the private property owner's sign.

Now, whether it is a wise idea to place your right to carry on a higher plane that the private party's property rights, is your personal decision to make.

i ccw'd in downtown rochester, through the clinic and the mall of america. i guess 99.9% of the sheeple don't notice you unless your begging for money
or have two heads. what they don't know won't hurt them.......

Minnesota laws authorize individuals holding gun permits from the following states to carry in Minnesota:

Arkansas
Louisiana
Utah
Wyoming

That is why I got the Utah non resident permit. I am not planning on going to any place that would be posted, but since it would just be a deal where I am asked to leave, I will leave without any fuss. I realise this is not necessarily the best way to do things but, if my choice is to carry past a sign or turn around and leave my weapon in the car I will carry. Jim.
