NO CHP in VA, laws pertaining while in vehicle

As of July 1, 2010, a concealed handgun permit is not necessary when carrying a handgun while in a personal, private motor vehicle or vessel and such handgun is secured in a container or compartment in the vehicle or vessel.

If someone could help me out, could I carry my pistol LOADED in a HOLSTER that meets the common observance laws while in my PoV on my person?

Would appreciate some help, I just turned 21 and took the CHP course here in Virginia Beach waiting to get it back in the mail within the next month or so but still want to exercise my 2nd amendment while waiting because I know the bad guy wont. I'm new here so take it easy. J

It just has to be visible, laying on the front seat would be a good option.

Yea but what a pain with a belt loop holster. Oh well, guess I get to suffer until I get my chp. I appreciate the help.

Carrying in a vehicle in plain sight has been legal in Va for a long time. I've known folks to use a cowboy-type holster and belt looped over the front passenger seat headrest.

Cant you just put it in a snap holster (that fits FL's def of "secure container") then stick it in between your seat and the center console?

Or just chuck it in the glove box

Holstered, and openly carried upon your hip while in your vehicle is just fine. No special OC rules while in a vehicle.
