Well, deer season opened Sat...First time in years I decided to go deer hunting. About a month ago, I spent several days scoping out a good spot on my property, and building a nice tree stand, overlooking and area where several game trails came together. Since I'm disabled, I had to put it in an area where I could easily get to and from...Its only about 200 yards from my house, and I can drive a ATV in there (but don't when I'm hunting)...
I live in a semi-rural area, and there's a nice flock of deer living out back (I have 10 acres of woods/brush, adjoining properties have the same or more)...So Friday afternoon, I'm watching TV, and hear 1 shot ring out, from the neighbors property on the east side, at about 4 p.m....At 5 p.m.(after legal sunset) I hear another...Guessing they decided to get a jump on the season....
Sat. morning I get out and into tree stand before sunrise....About 10 minutes after sunrise, I hear what sounds like an artillery barrage (at least 30 shots in the space of 5 minutes) from the neighbors property on the west side...then I never heard another shot all day...Figure they were shooting over bait (which is illegal here)....
So I didn't see ANY deer Sat. Went out Sun. morning still didn't see any...Did a little "scouting" along some of the game paths on my property(difficult for me to walk that much, but I just stopped every 100 yards or so)...and only found one very small (probably a fawn) set ot tracks, which is unheard of, there's usually a TON of tracks...Anyway, I very disappointed, as I probably won't see anything, now, and I really don't have any other places to hunt, that I can get into and out of easily...
OK, I vented now, I feel a little better...
