777 is the best substitute if you can't find goex.
None of the subs work well for flintlocks. Real BP is what goes bang with a rock lock.

I'm pretty sure if a Ninth Century Chinese peasant can make it, I can figure it out.
https://mainepowderhouse.com/shop/I checked Grafs, Powder Valley and Powder Inc and none have any BP in stock. So I guess this means any that is shipped will be bought up in record time. When it comes back in stock I may try some of this powder. I don't have a FL, all my guns are percussion so it should work OK.

I have been very happy with black mz, made by American Pioneer as well. When their stuff becomes available again, I suggest you try it. Works well in my percussion rifles and revolvers, much less fouling.
I sure hope you can find someI wanted to try BP, I guess I need to get a couple pounds before it’s too late

I updated my above post to mention BlackMZ. I have 3.5 pounds of it now. And yep I liked it. But as far as I know it has been discontinued.

brewer12345 Thanks. Anymore detail you can provide sir?Black mz is no more but American pioneer is producing essentially the same thing u see their own label. They even offer a choice between 2f and 3f granulation

Thank you brewer12345Google American pioneer powder.
If you search for black mz reviews you will see fans and detractors. It is one of the easiest subs to ignite, and has much less fouling than real black. Otoh, it is somewhat less powerful on a grain by grain basis compared to Goex. A 540 round ball over 110 grains of black mz accounted for my last two deer, and that was from a 24 inch barrel.
App powder in their own name is about the same thing. All sold out like everything else, but when I run out of black mz I will buy app.
