I saw this info over on SASS.Pretty worrisome,if true.

''I get a few things from time to time from Government Liquidations. They are the folks that handle all government auctions of surplus now. It used to be DRMO. I have bought a few surplus lots from them such as my M35A2 2 1/2 ton truck, brass, and other surplus.
Today I got this email from them.

Dear Valued Customer:

Please take a moment to note important changes set forth by the Defense Logistics Agency:

Recently it has been determined that fired munitions of all calibers, shapes and sizes have been designated to be Demil code B. As a result and in conjunction with DLA's current Demil code B policy, this notice will serve as official notification which requires Scrap Venture (SV) to implement mutilation as a condition of sale for all sales of fired munitions effective immediately. This notice also requires SV to immediately cease delivery of any fired munitions that have been recently sold or on active term contracts, unless the material has been mutilated prior to sale or SUV personnel can attest to the mutilation after delivery. A certificate of destruction is required in either case.

Thank you,

In short this means that ALL military surplus brass must be destroyed before purchaser can leave with it. So no more .223, .308, or any other caliber of military brass will be available anymore...''

Just thought you guys would like to know.

Pretty worrisome,if true.

Except it's already been debunked. Several threads on it.

Brass under .50 is exempt from the destruction order.

Seems this one vendor went into panic mode without reading the order and sent everyone into fits.

From the order:

Sales: Sales in CONUS are authorized for casings 50 caliber and under (to satisfy local/reloading
market/demand only). The appropriate sales method will be determined based on location, commodity
condition, etc. as well as any current, unique sales/scrap processing initiatives that may be in place. End
Use Certificates are required for these sales.

So, they can't export it, but they can continue to sell it. Panic over nothing.

Panic over nothing

There seems to be a lot of this going around these days. Witness the recent ammo hoarding. Obama has done nothing, and said nothing in regards to the second amendment, since taking office. Yes there are a number of bills pending, but what is new about that? The anti's are always pushing their agenda, as are we. I personally believe that the situation of our gun rights is better than in years past. I think Katrina and 9/11 opened some eyes as to personal safety and individual responsibility. I believe many people finally realized that the govt. may not swoop in to rescue them, and may in fact cause more problems. Unfortunately, since the election, any mention of anything effecting the availability of guns or ammo cause a panic. People tend to be very reactionary, and to not evaluate a situation before reacting. Do I think the anti gun crowd has given up? NO! Are they laughing at us running around in a panic at every little thing? Absolutely.

There are some very legitimate brass sellers who seem to think this is true, including Georgia Arms. I have also heard that Jeff Bartlett of GI brass has said something similar.

Does anyone know whats up with that?
