Ive just recently stopped being student and turned into working man. With this change came fact that i dont have to conceal as perfectly as I had to at university - my coleagues are either gun owners or gun tolerant folks. Well, my shoolmates were mostly the same, but chances of running into idiot were much higher.
I also attended some practical shooting competition "peoples defensive shooting" and realised my Ruger LCP while easy to carry is not so easy to draw and shoot, not talking about quick reload... So I purchased Kahr P9 - while still easy to carry, its much more easier to shoot, aim, reload etc. plus 9mm Luger is cheaper than 9mm Browning = better training.
Ill keep the Ruger as it was with me when I was doing both my bachelor's and master's degree, four years of daily carry without single issue. And there are situations when P9 is just too big.

And the question: Have you changed your gun/carry habit after you finished your shool?

Not just school, but when lifestyles change, you sometimes have to "shift gears".

As an example, currently I can carry what ever (IAW local laws) as I dress the way I wish. Depending on what the new job requires, I may not be able to carry at all or have to carry in a non-permissive environment (NPE).

Things change. :)

Yeah. The thing is, you'll find that firearm choice is often dictated by wardrobe, which is often dictated by circumstance. On my time, I'm usually carrying a full sized combat auto, plus two spare mags, a light, and a knife. However, I have a completely different set of crap I carry at work. And still another I might carry to a social event requiring a suit. And yet another out on the lake. Etc....

You're just out of school, so it's not unreasonable to assume that you don't have the finances just yet to build up a wide selection of guns and crap to carry around on you like some of us that've been buying guns for 20+ years.

The one advice I'll give you though, as you start expanding your selection (and you will, we all do) is to keep your manual of arms as consistent as possible. Mag releases in the same places. Manual safeties or no. And train and practice as much as you can.

If you change the manual of arms, you have to practice/train the requisite number of repetitions until you have the new manual of arms programmed into muscle memory.

But in short, yes. Social situations often drive carry choices. It's a fact of life. For some of us, we just have more options than others. And that's not meant as condescension. Until I was probably 30 or so, I had exactly once choice as a carry gun. I made do.

I would assume that they don't. I don't know of any college that would allow the students to carry beyond those required to let them by state law.

Schools are pistol free zones in Michigan, so I couldn't carry in class. This also meant that I didn't have to change my carry routine.

Bohemus:
You are very lucky that the Czech Republic gun laws seem to be much better than in the UK, and might be much better than the 'Benelux' lands and Germany etc.
It would surprise me if universities in most of Europe have shooting clubs.

What sort of military surplus rifles and mil. or civilian handguns are available in Czech gun stores?

Well, this is quite off topic and i just wanted to know who else (and how) changed his/her ccw habit/equipment after leaving school. And Iam pretty positive there are schools that enable ccw even in the USA.

But anyway: (plese, move into CZ gunlaws thread, if needed)
