Quick question: how loud do you think a CCI CB long would be from the 21 inch barrel on my Savage MK II?

i figure my pellet gun makes about 20 ft-lbs of energy at the muzzle, while the Cb longs make 32. i got a Crossman Quest 1000 a few weeks ago for pest control. The finish on both the metal and wood parts is quite good. The fit between the metal and wood parts is also quite good. The problem is that it shoots WAAAAY off.

It will shoot a nice little group at 15 yards....the problem is that the group is 8" to the left, when the adjustable sight is centered. Even when I crank the adjustable rear sight to maximum, it doesn't have enough adjustments to correct it. The front site is not adjustable. I tried to realine the barrel, but it still shoots left.

my savage shoots true. If I have to use that, I will, but I'm a cheap skate and am looking for the most economic reason.

I do not have the instraments to do a measurement, but subjectively I believe my longer .22LR rifles with CB Longs are as quiet or more stealthy than my FWB 124 Sporter Air rifle.

My wife reports she can not hear my shots in the yard from inside our house with the AC or Heater running and the windows closed.

Some have reported accuracy problems with new made CB Longs around here. Being to cheep to buy new ammo just to find out when I have plenty older stuff has made me incapable of rendering a descission on the validity of those claims.

cb longs are quiet, with no crack more of a "pop"!, or "pap"!... the prob with them is they can be pretty inacurate as well, for some reason, they are actually a bit slower than a cb short; less pressure build up in the case, is what I believe.
Therefore, that and its light weight, most 22bbls have a hard time stabilizing them. Maybe just look for cb shorts as well, as long as just longs, and regular shorts.

We used to shoot pigeons out of the rafters with 'em and the rafters are 60' above the floor. They were minute-of-pigeon accurate out of my Savage 63 and not very loud. They have a pretty good pop to them, but since they are subsonic it doesn't sound much like a gunshot.

They are quiet. Unfortunately, they are also very inaccurate. I wouldn't want to use them past maybe 15 yards.
