Since getting into 3-gun. I have found the need for a Non-Magnified Red Dot with BDC. Shots can easily be out to 500+ yards. I know the rifle is capable. But with just a single dot, it's hard to reference how much of a hold for stuff that is over 200+ yards. The 4 MOA dot I'm working with also becomes an issue when shooting at 8" targets.

I stumbled upon this item. The regular (non bdc) version has good reviews. Wondering if anyone has used one. Or knows of another sub 2 MOA red dot with either BDC or hash marks, etc.

Thanks!

Try the best of both worlds. Look at a Vortex Viper PST 1-4 x 24. Its a true one power for shooting with both eyes open like a red dot. Then the 4 power can be used for longer shots. Comes in MOA or MRAD reticle and turrets. Not made in China like the Vortex Strike Eagle or the Primary Arms version. Generous eye relief, super clear glass. I really love mine.

Shooting out to 500 yards with a red dot just isn't going to work.

Best you can do is a low power variable scope.

Maybe add at 45 degree mounted red dot for close range speed.

This is EXACTLY what I'm looking for. Any experience with this model?

Magnified optics are not allowed in the class I run.

Why isn't that going to work?

RC,

Respectfully, I disagree.

I was at the range yesterday and I was lobbing rounds from my 14.5 barrel (with welded brake) at some kind of gong placed at 500yrs +-.

Admittedly, I didn't hit it but I was pretty close. I was not bench shooting or giving it a real try. I didn't think I could be that close.

Granted, a Red Dot is not ideal nor preferred, but I believe it is doable with a well built rifle, a decent trigger, and a shooter to match.

Interesting. I was looking for something like this, but for a different purpose.

I want something where I can sight in for supersonic ammo, but have a known reference for subsonic ammo.

I'm also using this on a barrel that could be used in some instances as a rifle, and other times as a pistol, so not having a magnified optic which only works within certain eye relief distances is desirable as well.

The other option I was looking at was to use multiple optics with QD mounts. But a red dot with multiple dots is a simpler approach.

EOTech also makes their newer sights with multiple dots, but I don't think they're specifically calibrated for 5.56 ammo like primary arms has done with theirs.

I don't have any experience with that primary arms red dot, but I'm pretty sure they just got it to market so reviews may be pretty limited still. I do own the primary arms 1-6x and have used their 6-14x R-Grid scope and both are fantastic glass for the money. Primary arms makes great budget optics and they stand behind them 100%. If this is what I was looking for I wouldn't hesitate ordering it. I think they have some YouTube videos with it if you do a search for them. I'm with the other crowd in that variable optics are way better but if you can't use them in your matches then you have to go with what you're allowed to use.

Any have any updates on this segment? Still no reviews on the SIS sight. I'm thinking about just taking the risk and trying it. Wondering if maybe something new has come out. Again, no magnification is allowed in my class.

Any sight with vertical dots can be mapped for bullet drop. It takes some range time, but once you have it mapped, you can laminate the card on the stock, if you can't remember ...
