Noob question on sling swivel for a 590 a1

Sorry for the noob question but for the swivel nub on the rear of the stock (Mossy 590a1) , do you simply twist it to remove it or do I need to remove the recoil pad first?

I just got a specter sling and the nub is in the way.

Unless Mossberg has changed their sling swivel studs, it's a coarse-threaded screw with a funny head, basically. Just unscrew it as you would any other screw - stick a nail, Allen wrench or whatever through the hole to get leverage to get it started. Put it someplace you can find it again later so you can re-install it if you decide to change sling setups.
