I was off work for today and decided to check out some gun shops for a deal. I went to a town about 20 minutes from here to pick up some .50 cal. ammo cans for $4.50 and on the way home I stopped at a gun shop/pawn shop to see if they had any mil surps worth adopting. To my surprise they had a Norinco Sks that look new and unfired. They were asking $249 for it, but they dropped their price to $150 cash. I'm in. Brought it home and took it apart. Not even any unburned powder in the receiver. Dang it man, it's clean, clean, clean. I will be working until the weekend, but plan on going to the range on Sat. or Sun. to finish checking it out. Just had to tell somebody about the deal.:D

Nice! I joined the SKS Club a few weeks back with an unissued Yugo. I'm in the same boat - mine was virtually spotless from the get-go.

Enjoy the new addition, as soon as I can pick up some ammo, I plan on doing the same!

Good deal! :)

Around here folks think Norincos are gold and platinum plated apparently. My best deal was a used '78 Norinco for $150, but that one needed a new stock.

CDNN has some nice smooth strippers for it: linky

How can you tell what year a Norinco Sks is? This one looks to be new, but I would like to know when it was made (just out of curiosity). It was imported by Century. Their import mark is on the left side of the bolt shroud. Thanks guys and gals

Congrats!

I just picked up a Norinco SKS a couple weeks and I still have yet to shoot it, maybe this weekend. Mine wasn't very clean and had some surface rust that I had to remove, it looked to me that whoever had before me never cleaned it. Fortunately the bore was in excellent condition and in the end it cleaned up nicely. I have an unfired Russian that I consider my showcase gun, the Norinco I plan to shoot a lot.

When you get a chance you should post some pics of your new acquisition for us all to see!;)
