Last glock thread today...I promise. As you can see I have lots of free time before I start my summer job next week....

Anyway, I was practicing "dry firing" with my new Glock 17, which I heard is a good ideal to refine trigger movement, internalize the safety rules, etc. I noticed that when the slide is open, the barrel will shift slightly (you can hear it more than see it) when the slide is racked. When it's closed, I don't hear anything.

That is perfectly normal. Most semi autos will do that when the slide is back.

Thanks guys. I'm going to try to take it out a couple more times before I start my new job (maybe even today), because then I'll probably be lucky to get once a week this summer.

Offhand, can't think of any semis that don't do that when the slide is locked back other than fixed barrel blowbacks and the HK P7/PSP guns.

This is normal. (If it were not, all of my guns would be defective.;)) The slide and barrel are only locked together when the slide is fully forward ("in battery") at the moment of firing, and then only for about a quarter of an inch.

Most of the Glocks I've seen jiggle when the slide is in battery.
