Well to say I'm overjoyed would be a huge understatement!
Anchorage here I come!
Anyone a local there?
IPSC-IDPA-Pins Ranges?
With any luck I can make the late Boo hunt, that's Alaskan for caribou!
Sno-Gos and wolf hides are among the many stories my brother keeps repeating and I landed a union job!
Gun Stores? Gun Smiths? Any cast bullet makers?
Thanks All, the moving company will be here this week!
Happy Dance!

Welcome...enjoy the run up the Alcan...or are you flying?:D

Hope you like shooting in the cold, the closest indoor range is about 55 miles away...that being said, the State runs a nice rifle and pistol range right outside the "city" and there is an Izaak Walton range in Birchwood about 15 miles from downtown...

Where in Anch are you gonna be living....???

Its fun up here!

Wildalaska

Cool handle!
The realtor has shown me several home locations in the $200K range in areas called Mountain View (I love mountains),Hillside and Lower (?) Hillside and Independence Park (says it's a community?) and several downtown and in a neighboring community called Girdwood?
Thanks for ANY input!

200K will get you a nice place..Girdwood i 45 miles south of the City, its a hell commute in the winter. Stay away from Mountainview. Independence Park is nice, but all condos...are you gonna work on the Slope?

Anchorage

Thanks for the post Wildalaska!
I saw several homes in the Independance Park area with three and four car garages off Colony, one is an ex-bed and breakfast that is supposed to be at the top of a hill? She (the realtor) explained the unique zero lot line thing (condos and duplexes)
There's a couple in Eagle River, is that a bad commute also?
Bill Allen at VECO sort of bribed me, yes the slope and related regulatory paperwork. My field is metalurgy, destructive testing etc.

Well if you are working on the slope (2 weeks on and 2 weeks off), Girdwood isnt so bad...its sort of a hippie place but we are all sort of like hippes up here :)

Eagle River is an easier commute into town.

Probably best to get yourself a short term apt first so you can look around and get a feel for the place....

I know there is active IPSC here because we just had one of the guns in for repair...do you have an email..or send me a PM and I can get you tons of info....
