Any THR members ever been to or belong to any of the following gun clubs in and around northern Kentucky\southern Ohio:

  • Clinton County Farmers and Sportsmen’s Association - Wilmington, OH
  • Bob White Gun Club - Alexandria, KY
  • Eastern Hills Rod & Gun Club - Batavia, OH
  • Kenton Game & Fish Association - Ryland Heights, KY
  • Lloyd Area Skeet Club - Crittenden, KY
  • Miami Rifle & Pistol Club - Milford, OH
  • Pendleton County Sportsman Club - Butler, KY
  • Shooter`s Sporting Clays, Inc. - Fort Mitchell, KY
  • Sugar Bay Trap - Warsaw, KY
  • Tri-City Sportsmen's Club - Alexandria, KY

I've got a possibility on a move to the area and would have to find a new gun club. Biggest parameters are rifle\pistol outdoor ranges, trap, skeet, maybe sporting clays and especially kids allowed.

Any opinions are greatly appeciated.

Thanks,

Abe

lloyd has a nice rifle range, and it's free..
there's a club here in town called elk creek hunt club, they have a killer clay setup... www.elkcreekhuntclub.com

the best club is the thr blow the hell out of everything you can imagine club :what: that's thrblooey club for short... :scrutiny:

Hi Abe, I belong to the Maimi Rifle and Pistol club. If your into rifles or pistols this is the place (http://www.maimirifle-pistol.org/). They have a juniors program to teach kids target shooting. Check out the web sight, and if you have any questions, I`ll be happy to answer them.
As far as shotgunning goes, Eastern Hills is supposed to be one of the finest around, and is only a couple of miles from MRPC. Never been there myself, but everyone I talk to speaks highly of the club (I prefer my barrels rifled).
Regards, Bill

Hi Abe,

I guess it all depends on what kind of club you want to join?

The few "sportsman" clubs I've seen where basically clubs for older good 'ol boys who spend more time drinking then anything else. Not that I have any problem with that but its just not my thing. Other than maybe a trap course, usually their shooting activities are all focused on hunting. Again, nothing wrong with that but I'm not a hunter. Basically what I'm saying is if you are looking for a "gun club" for firearms enthusiast, most of these "sportsman" clubs aren't for you.

I have been to the Lloyd area skeet club in Crittenden. There is actually a couple of different clubs\ranges there which are all actually public owned but the Skeet, Trap and Pistol ranges are club run. That means that anybody can go there to shoot (for a fee) but only during club sponsored times which are pretty limited. There is a fully public rifle range there are well but it's only 4 lanes and 100 yards max.

The best bet for a full service gun club is the Miami club listed above but it's a little bit of a drive depending on where in N.KY you decide to live. There is also another club in Fairfield OH (that doesn't live up to the stereotype I wrote about above ;)) Called the Fairfield Sportsman club. I was just recently told that their rifle range is temporally closed and that may become permanent because of a new part recently built close by.

I'm on the firearms enthusiast end of the scale as opposed to sportsman and\or hunter. Not that one couldn't be all of these things.

Thanks for the information.

- Abe
