I'm putting together a group buy from Powder Valley.

So far I've got 3 people with 18 to 20 pounds of powder interested.

Like to get a few more people in on the deal to cut shipping charges, the hazmat fee, and take advantage of Powder Valley's low prices.

To check out their prices, visit www.powdervalleyinc.com (URL corrected)

As an example, PV charges $13.50 for a pound of 296.

Most recently at a gunshow in Northern Virginia I've seen it pushing the $20 mark.

Renaissance,

Powder Valley's price on primers actually is a little bit worse than what I'm finding at gunshows in Northern Virginia. I've been able to get mine (Remington and Winchester) for about $1 to $1.50 per K cheaper than what PV has them.

If you want primers, though, you can certainly order them.

I'm in Fairfax.

Isn't Kingstowne down around Lynchburg? You're a bit far out...

Group Buy

Mike:

I just bought 6 pounds of powder from the range I belong to (IWLA) or I'd have been interested to pitch in. Put me on your list of possibles for the next time. (I'm in Fairfax too.)

Thanks!

Mike,
There's a gunshow in Richmond this weekend. My last pound of 296 shows $14.50 (still worse than the bulk buy). I believe I got it at the Showplace from the fellow in the middle back of the show (not MRP or T&T).

I'm already well over the legal limit for powder and primers according to the Virginia fire code rules, so I've placed myself on a moratorium for awhile. Good idea though!

Legal limit? Fire code rules? Can you elaborate on that for me, I'd rather not call the fire marshall myself you see I have... Well, Umm....

What are those rules exactly?

I've not seen it below $15 at a gunshow in Virginia for about 5 years

I bought an 8lb keg of H110 (identical to 296) a couple years ago for $109. That works out to less than $14/lb, but I've never seen a single pound for less than $18 or so at shows or otherwise.

Are you guys going to the Showplace show in Richmond?
There are three vendors there who reliably sell powder, as well as a few more who randomly sell it: T&T reloading from PA, MRP out of Virginia Beach, and one other guy who sells the cheapest price I've ever seen for Alliant. He also sells tons of Lee gear, as well as most other powder brands. He's usually near the back wall, close to dead center.
T&T sells 296 for $15.95, http://www14.inetba.com/tandtreloading/productCat17918.ctlg
and I haven't been to show recently in which they've sold it at that online price. It always has a 10% discount to compete with the other vendors there.
I bought that last can of 296 only about a year ago, and not from T&T as they weren't the cheapest.
Online powder is definitely the way to go in bulk, but there are still some good deals out there at the Showplace!
I won't even mention my surplus pulled H870 8# keg for $39....
:D
