When I took on the responsibility of conncealed carry I also took on another responsibility and registered to vote. I definatly want to support and exersice my rights in every way I can. I love my country but at the same time I don't fully trust the government, I constantly feel torn. I don't identify myself with any political party, honestly the only label I put upon myself is American, somthing I wish all Americans would do, but recently I have started to identify myself as a gun owner, and I find myself trying to educate the ignorant on the importance of responsible gun ownership. I myself am somewhat , if not very, ignorant to politics, I do feel like this election is a pick of the lesser of two evils. I think alot of people are voting just to out Bush, wich I can't really agree or disagree with. I guess what I'm really trying to get to is this: On the Gun issue, is Kerry really going to be as bad as the Republicans make him out to be? What has Bush really done for gun owners? What will the future for gun owners look like under the two different parties? I know it will be hard but, if at all possible unbiased neutral information would be great. It's hard to make a decision when information can't be looked at for what it is due to a biased source. Thanks for the education.

Yes Kerry will be bad news. Think of Clinton, 3 or 4 Clintons. That's what Kerry is. Kerry is more liberal than Ted Kennedy or Feinstein, more than both of them put together probably.

It isn't what Bush has done for us, it's what he hasn't done TO us. No significant anti-gun laws have been passed in the past 4 years and with the Tiahart legislation Clinton's illegal federal gun registry was shut down. Bush signed Texas CHL into law when he was governor and Cheney is an avid collector with a few machineguns too.

The only anti-gun legislation that was signed under Bush was the 100% plastic gun ban. How many of those have been designed in the past 10000 years? Hint: Zero and Zero will be designed in the forceable future as long as metallic cartridges are used as ammunition and springs are used.

That Kerry creature is far worse than the Republicans have made him out to be. Bush has done nothing for gun owners or the Second Amendment except to appoint John Ashcroft as Attorney General. Ashcroft has asserted the Second Amendment protects an individual right to keep and bear arms rather than some mythological "collective" right. Would Ashcroft deserve big pats on the back for announcing the sun normally rises in the east?

If you're concerned about your civil rights, try http://www.lp.org

The Republicrats and Democans aren't concerned about them.

While still Governor of Texas, GWB signed concealed carry into law and wasn't at all apollogetic about it.
I'd like to see him get the opportunity to do the same on a national level.

Here's a hint. Kerry recently made a special trip)leaving his campaign trail)
just to vote for a bill reupping the AWB. He recently voted in favor of making .30-30 illegal.
'nuff said?

BTW, welcome to THR.:)
