Money is not an issue?

Ed Brown Kobra Commander. Buy two.

If you absolutely love and cherish your carry gun, you'll likely lavish care on it, and it'll always be with you in the best leather gear - and you'll be happy every minute you're together!

(blinking, shaking my head, composing myself. . .)

A dear friend very high up in Federal law enforcement told Susan and I that, and it's proven true over the years.

:D

That's what I'd do. And if my novel goes mainstream in a big way, I plan on buying three, and then taking every class for handgun offered at Gunsite!

I got to strip and check out a Colt Gold Cup Commander recently, and that'd be a lovely alternative, better IMHO than the new Kimbers.

The S&W 3" 649 remains the perfect BUG, powerful, and superbly accurate, slipping into a pocket smoothly, and of reasonable weight. Really, take a look at one. Five hundred rounds of full-power .357 ammunition, and it's still as tight as the day I bought it.

Have fun!

kinda rude of them to make you disrobe.....

:D

Sorry couldn't resist.

Seriously, I did check out the Kobra on-line and it's in the running. I already have a Colt Commander and I do like that size 1911 style pistol. I'm still not sure about the cocked and locked carry issue though what with all the gymnastics the car carry requirement entails.

If you are going to carry concealed...............

don't forget to invest in a very good holster and a very good belt. Choosing good holsers and belts makes all the difference between concealed carry being a joyful thing or a genuine pain in the ---! Good shooting;)

Yeah, holsters are going to be a factor in Ohio with the "open carry in motor vehicle" restriction. I'm betting a lot of people are going to get paddle holsters so they can be easily moved from behind the hip to a more forward/visible position. At least until we can get that clause rescinded at some (hopefully soon) future time.

Hal;

Fifty isn't far down the road - I strongly doubt the notion of me stripping would interest many (though the girl behind the counter was cute!). . .

:D

The car gymnastics you face make my head hurt - I guess I'd carry in a shoulder rig, and then simply remove my jacket when behind the wheel.

One thing's certain, I'd be stuffing the mail boxes of my State congress critters over that clause!

Be sure you let us know what you choose, OK? - with pictures!

If it's a 9mm you want in your pocket I wouls suggest the Kahr PM9. A slightly larger 9mm (but still comfortable on my pocket) is the Kel-Tec P-11. Kel-Tec makes a .380 ACP P3AT that I love and carry when I would not otherwise carry (it is real small an light. I find my Glock 27 too large and heavy for comfortable pocket carry. Any of the 1911 pistols (single stack) out there are to me very comfortable on the hip.

I dont mean to highjack this thread but can someone post some links to a good ankle holster for a p32. In my field of work I wear jeans everyday and the p32 prints too easy in small jean pockets.
Thanks

I like to carry the P-32/P3-AT with the pocket clip IWB at the 11 or 1 oclock position. The clip is mostly covered by the belt and goes pretty much un noticed. I carry mine in this manner and forget it's there.

A good holster is a must. Don't go cheap on it. It will make the biggest gun disappear. I used to carry a full-size 1911 wearing shorts and a t-shirt.

The Kel-Tec P11 is a great carry gun.

HAL I'm from Ohio too and just as excited about the new CCW laws. I just bought a new Kahr PM9 just for the occasion and LOVE it.

Pictures don't do it justice. Take one in hand a local dealer before deciding.
I've got a small frame and it's tough to conceal my Wilson SDS but the Kahr is a true Pocket pistol with power.

I probably should say this 'cause it may sound awful ---

I'm having so much fun shopping for the ideal carry gun I *almost* hope I don't find one too quick :D

Hal I more than understand..... shopping is the best part. I've been looking my self for a month or two now in hopes of the passing bill. I checked out the mini polymer Taurus and Kel Tecs and even rented the them at my local range. BUT I bought the Kahr in an instant on sight. (never having firing one) I've read extensinvely about them and they seem to prefer the hotter JHP loads and can easily handle the +P and +P+ rounds. The KM 40 is almost identical in size and only give up 1 round capacity to carry the bigger .40 S&W round. Which makes you wonder if a .357 Sig version will appear in the future?? Have fun in your search!
