NPAP any good? Should I trade for one?

The stock didn't seem high on those two I had here either, visually, till I fired 'em. :)

Do you mean that you had a hard time with the sights when shooting in actual practice or that you were getting cheek slap? Mabey I need to find one to demo shoot before I go buy one.

I mean that in just looking at the gun, unless you've got a standard AK sample to compare side by side with, or you're VERY familiar with the run-of-the-mill AK, you don't notice the different stock angle on the NPAP.

I don't shoot AKs regularly, but I'm not a stranger to them, and I didn't notice the difference in the first NPAP till I shot it, with the irons.

Once I started to line up on the sights, had to scrunch way down on them, which put my cheekbone against the wood.
The different stock angle was then immediately apparent.

I've gotten cheek slap from other guns, but those were not AKs & were typically higher-recoiling calibers in different rifle types.

On the NPAP, with the cheekbone against wood, it was painful to shoot on each shot, and resulted in that bruising I mentioned earlier.

If you do have a chance to shoot one of these before you buy, I'd take the chance & find out whether the NPAP fits YOU.

I saw another Internet post not long after, where a guy was saying his father had bought one of the "new NPAPs" & it turned him against AKs because it was uncomfortable to shoot.
And they couldn't easily replace the NPAP stock with a standard angle stock.

Probably not an issue, but I'd make sure any new AKs are compatible with the stash of mags you already have. Irrational worries of "mag wobble" have caused tighter mag wells which don't fit everything. I've never heard of this issue with Yugos, but I'd check given previous experience --- I hate having 3-4 sets of different AK mags.

I don't believe Yugo AKs are chrome lined, newer AKs with us made barrels (circa 2006 or thereabouts when ATF stopped allowing import of intact barrels) are not either. I'd keep an old chrome barreled AK. But it doesn't sound like you have one, so I'd make the trade.

My RH10 is indeed chrome lined. I know that the Yugo is not. That’s a good point. I believe my wasr and my Arsenal’s are chrome lined as well!

To clarify about 922r, if the ATF sees that you are guilty of robbery, rape, murder or other Actual felonies, they can Attach a prosecution for 'violating' 922r.

But the ATF doesn't care where your components were manufactured, or that a normal butt stock replaces a thumbhole, or your MAK 90 or Saiga rifle uses a 20-rd. mag. vs. a 5-rd. mag
Certain state regs, in several specific states (i.e. CA) are now the problem.

I got my N-PAP in February of 2016. All this talk here about them reminds me I should probably try it out someday. :D

It does feel like I'm gonna have my face pretty far down into it when I do.
