NRA -- Could it become victim of a backdoor registration scheme?

The OP's original post was predicated on the (incorrect) assumption they did.

Actually it did not. It ended with two questions. Knowledge about the practice and public thought was sought after. I am glad to know that they don't require the information. In my opinion, this thread was a success because now I have both.

Thank you all.

"I might be paranoid"

Looks that way. You start with a thread title about "...a backdoor registration scheme?" and eventually get around to mentioning that you have some questions.

Why not simply title your thread "Does the NRA insurance program require listing your guns?" if that's your question? But no, your anxiety won out over reason.

IOW, your fear came first, before your request for facts.

Hey, you asked.

John

I think all the registration, insurance questions have been answered. There is one thing I'd like to say though and that is we need numbers. Politicians respect large groups of people. The larger the gun lobby the better off we are. So if you don't want to join the NRA maybe consider GOA, SAF, or one of the other national organizations that are for the preservation of our rights. If you want to join more than one so much the better. Oh & I think others were right earlier-If they want to find out who has guns there are a host of other ways to track you without going to the NRA.

I would even go further and say that the original poster started with a question which later turned into "NRA has done harm to gun owners" and they can't be trusted. It appears to me that he had made up his mind already about how bad NRA is so I am not sure why he asked the question about backdoor registration scheme. Just another NRA bashing thread  It sure sounds like it

Man, people are still arguing on this thread?

I think this just furthers my hypothesis that most people that talk about the NRA know little to nothing about the organization.

Anyone else notice how posts claiming that "the NRA kills children" and "the NRA is secretly working to ban guns" seem to be the most common topics in these kinds of discussions?

I guess reading an issue of American Rifleman is too complex an act for most people in society to endure...
