NRA doesn't show rating for Bob Turner (R) NYC disctrict {EDIT: election was on 9-13}

NRApvf isn't showing a rating for Bob Turner, who is poised to take weener's NYC seat. Amazingly, the nrapvf doesn't even show this special election on nrapvf.org.

Soooo, is Bob slightly pro gun, or is he another NYC anti which is why the nra isn't bothering to even mention the special election?

It appears that Turner will win. http://blogs.marketwatch.com/electi...lican-poised-to-win-long-held-democratic-seat

Relax, Any Republican that is running for office in NYC is just a Democrat-light. He probably wouldn't talk to the NRA for fear of offending the NY sheep. Nelson Rockefeller drove all the real conservative Republicans south 40years ago. That said, even a RINO may have a little party loyalty when they arrive in Washington, and they HAVE to be better then Weiner.

Sorry but don't depend on an NRA endorsement for your voting decisions. As a past NRA-EVC, the ratings are dependent on surveys that are filled out by the candidates themselves.

I've seen numerous instances where clear anti gun politicians with voting records to prove it were rated good because that is the way their campaign filled it out.

Unless its a high profile like a president or such, the NRA-ILA does nothing to to confirm the questionnaires.

In your case with no rating, a questionnaire probably wasn't filled out at all.

We as voters have gotten lazy depending on others to tell us how to vote. With just a little effort and a trip to the local candidates office and a few proper questions, you can find out real fast how they swing.

ANYBODY running for office in NYC doesn't say a word about guns.
It's a non-issue for every candidate.
Voters assume any candidate is a gun banner.

Every republican candidate for national office is a RINO.

Just fact.

I agree not to attach too much importance to NRA ratings. They have been wrong before, and sometimes political calculations influence their endorsements.

On the other hand, he is a Republican, and while there are pro-gun Democrats, and anti-gun Republicans,( we have quite a few Progressive "moderate" anti-gun Republicans in my state) generically speaking, Republicans have been more gun friendly for quite a while.

Then again he is from Brooklyn/Queens area.

I would tend to vote for the Republican, on their general pro-guns rights stance, if I didn't know anything else about the candidates.

Personal knowledge of their position would trump generalities in any case.

I agree with the sentiment here that a NYC politician is most likely anti gun, however I know there are a lot of good gun owners or wannabe gun owners, even in Queens and Brooklyn. I've spoken to people on pro gun forums who live in those areas.

Some things in this story about the victory give me a drop of optimism:

Is he gonna be a GOA rated A+ based on his upcoming votes? I seriously doubt it. Will Bob be better than an F? I think so.

The ONLY reason he won was because his Democrat opponent supported same sex marriage and that Jewish folks in that district are not real happy with the lack of support for Israel from Obama and wanted to send a message.

Sorry but hoping pro gun issues come out of this is like hoping the NFA will go away.

Don't forget Kirstin Gillibrand had a favorable NRA rating when she ran for Hillary's Senate seat. Carolyn McCarthy was going to run against her because she was pro-gun, and look how she's turned out.
