The NRA store is selling Blackhawk Serpa Holster with the interchangable belt loop and paddle platforms for $35.95. Does anyone have one? Are they good quality? Thinking about buying one. Thanks for the feedback
The Serpa is poorly designed. Why use a holster that forces you to use a trigger-like motion to draw it? The design asks you to push the release with your trigger finger, then you relax your finger again on the drawstroke, which is a recipe for disaster. I don't care if "operators" use it, there is no way I'm carrying a gun in one of those things.
I have a couple of Serpa holsters. They're ok. Stick out a little to much for effective concealment compared to other holsters I have. If you activate the release with the pad of your forefinger, your finger will up outside the triggerguard and alongside the portion of the frame right above the trigger. If you activate the lever with your fingertip, you're gonna wind up with your finger inside the triggerguard (not so great and could be dangerous).
I have a different model Serpa holster as that particular one comes up to high on the slide for my Crimson Trace. I do like the one I have though. I've never had any issues with the retention device. It releases easy enough and my finger ends up resting on the frame right above the trigger. I will agree sticks out a bit and it's a little difficult to keep it from printing, but as long as I wear a nice polo shirt instead of a t-shirt I don't usually have too much of a problem. I much prefer it to the 2 other plastic holsters I've bought (Fobus & Uncle Mike's). I especially disliked the Fobus, it was garbage.
