I just completed an application and provided my credit card information for updating my NRA membership to life status for $300 (the link to the page was from a thread on the forum) and I received a confirming email. But when I went to the NRA site itself, and checked Membership Renewal, it showed the Life Membership cost still at $1,000. Was I scammed or is the $300 cost legitimate? I hope to hear something on this thread because if I was scammed I guess I can call my credit card company and stop the charge.

The $300 is a "special offer". They'll still sell you a life membership for $1000 if you want! The lady on the phone did say that they were having troubles and confusion with the special web page. I used the phone number on the page, was put on hold for about 10 minutes, then spoke to a very polite lady who processed my order and repeated that my total was $300 (I unfortunately had to decline the offer to buy a membership for a service member at this time).

So, just check your statement or if you're really concerned call the credit card company and check to see what was charged.

The link works, it just isn't available directly from the NRA home page. If you used the link and paid for the upgrade just go back through the NRA home page to "member services" and recheck your membership status, you should see that it has been upgraded to life. The upgrade showed up on my member account details within just a few minutes of completing the payment.
