Hi Gang. The NRA is offering a limited time offer to swell the membership numbers. You can buy a regular annual membership for $20. You can buy a life membership for $300 and upgrade from life to a Endowment member for$175. The life membership are currently $750 so this is a great deal you need to jump on right now. This is a great deal for you and helps protect our firearm rights by swelling the numbers of NRA members. ! I bought my kids life memberships and upgraded myself to an endowment. So do your part and upgrade or renew your membership today.
The NRA can be reached at 1-877-NRA-2000.

Feel free to pass this on to family and friends who are gun owners.
Tim

The life membership is listed as $1,000.00 on their website. Is this phone only? When does the offer expire?

beat me to the enter button, I was just gonna ask that question cause I was gonna do a life membership for me and my wife and my son and daughter.

I took advantage and upgraded to Endowment member. Politics is a numbers game, if you are not a member, join!

The American Rifleman mag you get with your membership is as good as any gun rag out there IMHO.

You do get a lot of solicitations for funds, I'd have to be as rich as George Soros to respond to them all, but if they bother you you can go to the website and "opt out".

yeah i would go in for a $300 life membership, broke as i am... you do have to call though?

Here's what my current understanding is, someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Joining the NRA doesn't put money toward lobbysts or other political action things, it helps pay for the safety classes, training, range building work they do, that type of thing. Donations to the NRA-ILA go to lobbying activities. If our main interest in the NRA was political activism, would our money be better spent by just sending $20 to the ILA?

Is there an insurance coverage included, or legal advice? Basically, if I'm traveling in the States will there be some benefit?

I believe it covers $1,000 for firearms lost or damaged in fire, theft, and other perils. Review the literature from the NRA to be sure.

Not sure about other legal advice, but the NRA does have a lot of classes, training, and other benefits that may or may not directly affect you.

So, I just called the number. They said I could upgrade to life for $500. I asked about the $300 and they said that was only available for life members to purchase as gifts for other members.

Ah. Okay, sorry to hear that.

OTOH, I don't feel so bad about paying the entire $750 now that a Life Membership has gone to $1000.

if they want to "swell the ranks" then they probibly shouldnt be constantly upping the prices.

offering discounts to family of members seems like a real good way to alienate new comers.

The number of "dues paying members" in the NRA is what gives leverage to the NRA-ILA "gun lobby" efforts. If you can only afford to do one, IMHO join the NRA, it makes my NRA-ILA contributions more effective over the long term.

I just called in. As i recall the conversation:

an active 3 or 5 year member can upgrade to life for $500

an active Life member can sponsor a family member for $300

Darn - none of those situations apply to me.

On the good side, my EPL balance due is $600.
