Since the NRA is a hot topic here of late, I thought I'd throw this out here. My dues are due soon and I am considering sending along a note followed by a copied letter to NRAHQ.

Basically what I am saying is, "Here is $150.00. It is not the princeliest sum you have ever received, but more than my previous $35.00 donations, and it is worth about three "banned" full capacity magazines for a Beretta 92 or a Para Ordnance pistol.

With this money, and the matching amount I will send next year, I expect to see a no holds barred effort to keep the 1994 "assault weapons" ban in a legislative grave after it sunsets. I would prefer to see it killed this year, well ahead of the 2004 general election, but I understand it might be more feasible to let it sunset and keep revival efforts bottled up in a house committee that year.

However you decide to do it, the ban must die. The NRA got the sunset provision into the bill, and now it is time to use it as intended. If the ban doesn't die with Republicans in charge of the Congress and the White House you are on notice now that you will never see another thin dime from me as you will have proven to be wholly ineffective if you lose on this fight while holding such a formidable power advantage"

Sincerely,

What do you think? I think we should all put them on notice that we have the upper hand and it is time to impose our will on the antis for a change.

Can't hurt.

The AW sunset is indeed gonna be a major issue. With an all-GOP-run scene going on in DC, if it doesn't happen there'll be hell to pay.

The main way our guys will support the sunset is the idea that "it just hasn't affected crime". That'll be the mantra.
