I received my NRA Board ballot yesterday, and to be honest, I have never voted before. But, I noticed in the last few issues of "America's First Freedom" that there seems to be a lot about how evil the anti's are but really very little about how the NRA is working to preserve or, more importantly, restore our God given, constitutionally protected rights.

When's the last time you heard the NRA was working on getting votes to overturn the 86, 89 or 94 bans? Personally, I can't remember. A vote in 1996 to repeal the 94 ban died in a Democratic congress. And, we've made some strides in tossing out the antis in the last nine years and, although the NRA has had a great deal to do with that, I don't think they are nearly aggressive enough.

So, my real question is, who on the ballot is a good vote?

"So, my real question is, who on the ballot is a good vote?"

I can't tell you for sure who is good and who is not, all I can do is tell you how I try to distinguish among all the choices.

I look at the resumes and see who seems to be active in efforts to support our rights. I try to bounce these names off of other sources, people who are mentioned by name in other publications, those who I have read about or hear about. Having "big" names on the board (Congressmen, etc.) can be a plus in some instances, but only if they will truly work for us and not just use this as a prestige-builder.

I am trying to identify those who will be active in the NRA and other places to fight restrictive legislation and support better laws. I do not necessarily vote any "party" line but instead try to make an informed choice.

You pose a good question. I hope you get some good responses.
