Hey everyone, I have been kicking around becoming an NRA pistol instructor for quite some time, and I have a few questions.
1)What materials do I need (or can get prior to the class) to study?
2)What does the shooting aspect of the class entail? How does one qualify? Do I need to qualify with both a pistol and a revolver?
3) Any Instructors out there that can give me any tips?

Thank you very much for all of your help!

Beyond that, you will need to find a certified NRA Training Counselor in your area. He/she will have all the information you need.

It's a lot more about knowledge and safety than it is about shooting skill. You should be proficient in the field you're planning to be certified to teach, but it's more important for you to have a good general knowledge base and a perfect grasp of firearm safety rules and practices.

The qualification is fairly straightforward. The best advice I can give is for you to be familiar with how to safely and correctly load and unload semi-auto pistols, DA revolvers, and single-action revolvers. I've seen the single-action revolver mess people up who weren't familiar with that action type. Make sure you pay particular attention to "safe direction" and "finger off the trigger" while manipulating the handguns.

Be familiar with malfunction procedures, especially procedures for misfires and hangfires.

All the info you need is in the Basic Pistol and Personal Protecion in the Home student books (esp BP).

As for shooting, practice shooting with an emphasis on slow fire accuracy. You want nice, tight groups, and you want to be able to put the group where you want on the target face. The emphasis is on precision, not speed.
