NRA Snags 'Dr. Phil' in Anti-gun Lie

National Rifle Association has caught Phillip McGraw, the TV psychologist who dubs himself "Dr. Phil," in an absurd anti-gun lie.

According to this month's issue of the NRA magazine America's 1st Freedom, McGraw clucked as he had young boys play with toy guns on his program. "There are five children a day killed with guns through either accidents or suicides," McGraw claimed.

That would be more than 1,800 a year. In reality:

"If, by children, Dr. Phil meant 10 and under, like he used in his 'experiment,' approximately 50 children die from handgun violence," the magazine says in an article headlined "TV's New Rosie O'Donnell."

McGraw specified gun "accidents and suicides." The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, however, reports only 86 accidental deaths and 110 suicides involving firearms in children 14 and under in 2000.

"Maybe Dr. Phil will make sure he has some facts in hand before spouting off next time," America's 1st Freedom says.

I highly dought Dr.Phills statements. Especially seeing the statement didn't include homicide. However you must consider that people are children until the age of 21, at least as far as my state is concerned. The age of 21 is when at least the people of NY get most of the "privliges" of an adult, and the state is no longer responsible for your education. So if you go to the age of 21 and add in homicide he may be a little closer.

N.R.A. may well have caught him, but Larry Elder called him on it the next day on his national radio show.

As I recall, Larry also called him on his BS when the good Dr. said that guns kill more children than cancer and a litany of other childhood diseases.

Dr. Phil fills the niche of yelling at people, through the TV screen, on behalf of soccermommies everywhere. For whatever reason, they like, no, make that LOVE, him for it.

Maybe it's because their husbands are unassertive nutless wonders that need addaspinetome surgery. Hmmm....

None of it would be a problem, provided that those fools not be allowed to vote.:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
