Nevada Reciprocity:

http://www.nvrepository.state.nv.us/Special/CCW_CHANGE.shtml

In accordance with Senate Bill 237 passed by the 2007 Nevada Legislature the State of Nevada will recognize the following States' CCW permit holders:

Alaska
Arkansas
Kansas
Louisiana
Missouri
Nebraska
Tennessee
Utah

This law allows holders of valid permits from these states to carry a concealed weapon while in the State of Nevada. The permit must be in the possession of the issuee at all times while carrying a firearm.

YES!

Wonder how the list of states was decided ? And why so many states didn't make the cut ?

Resident vs. Non-Resident?

There is NO difference in the status of a Resident or non-resident permit. The legislation simply states valid permits from the aforementioned eight sattes are honored.

It's NOT true reciprocity as tehy will not sing reciprocity agreements. they will honor those permits.

I'll be in Vegas Friday.

Also Don't forget the Clark County "Blue Card" Depending on the length of your stay.

The Department of Public Safety, with the help of the Nevada Sheriffs and Chiefs Association, reviewed the laws from other states. It found 16 other states that had an electronic database accessible 24 hours a day that identifies valid permit holders. Of those 16, only eight had concealed carry permit laws that were as stringent or more stringent than Nevada, the Department of Public Safety said.

Henry, I believe this is the blue card to which he is referring.

There is a local law that states that if you are in the County you must register your guns with the local PS/SD. They in turn issue you a "Blue Card" with the registered firearms. My point is/was check before you go there.

Nevada & Local Gun Laws Slightly out of date due to recent changes.

Registration of Firearms
Clark County (minus Boulder City) requires registration of handguns only. All other counties have no registration of any guns. For Clark County, the first handgun purchase includes a 72 hour "cooling off" period. A handgun registration card (commonly known as a "blue card" because of its light blued color) is issued for each registered handgun, and must stay with the gun. Examples: If you take the gun to shoot at the range, you must take its blue card also. If you loan the gun to a friend, you must make sure he has the card with it. You may register your handgun at any branch of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (bring it to them UNLOADED AND IN A SAFE MANNER). If you sell or give away the handgun, you are obligated to have the registration transferred into the name of the new owner. If you wish to purchase other handguns, your "cooling off" period is waived if you have your blue card present.

FIREARMS REGISTRATION
Registration in Clark County

I hope this is helpfull.

Thanks. That is very informative.

Registration of firearms capable of being concealed. (Clark County Code 12.04.200)
It is unlawful for any person to own or have in his possession, within the unincorporated area of Clark County, a gun, pistol, revolver, or other firearm capable of being concealed, unless the same has first been registered with the sheriff or with a police department of any of the incorporated cities of Clark County. (Ord. 242 §§ 20, 1965)
The sheriff/PD must be really busy the day before SHOT Show. ;) Or, like so many draconian gun laws, it is selectively enforced.

Or, like so many draconian gun laws, it is selectively enforced.

On the old Packing.org, they had a scan of a letter from the Clark County Sheriff stating that visitors to Clark County were not required to get blue cards for their guns, while they were visiting.

Of course, the Clark County Sheriff is an elected official and policies can be expected to change when the office holder does. I seem to recall the letter was dated some time in the '90s.

I have never seen any sort of position statement from the Nevada or Clark County AG offices on the subject.

Wow, wdlsguy--Nice pull!

As I noted above, Keller is no longer Sheriff and the new guy (who has been on CNN a lot lately) is from somewhere back east (Jersey?).

His opinion may vary drastically.

I just called the LVMPD and spoke with a retired officer who does the CCW processing and he said that while you NO LONGER are required to posess a "Blue Card" because of the honoring of the Utah and other Permits it would still be a good idea to do so because a rookie cop might not know the newly changed law. He said @ the Russel Ave Station across the parking lot from the Mandalay Bay it should take no longer than 5 min. Teh procedure is to place your unloaded gun into a wall box, to transfer between the bullet proof glass, with your Valid permit and drivers license. All tehy check for isthe valid permit & valid ownership and print the guns you have registered on a light blue card.
