O.K. I have a Remington Nylon 66 that I bought 2 years or so ago. Dad had one years ago, so when I came across it, I had to pick it up. Anyway, I can't find a serial number on it anywhere. after a Google search, I found a site that said that early models did not have a serial number. According to Blue Book, they were made from 1959-1990. Date code on the barrel is OJ indicating it was made in July 1962, so I guess this may be considered "early." I have seen other examples that had a serial number stamped on the receiver cover opposite from the ejection port. Since I can't find the receipt, I don't know if there was one listed. Any info?

A lot of them do not have serial numbers. The serial number, is located on the "receiver" on the left side if so equiped.

Just looked on bottom of barrel. No markings. Only markings on barrel are on end next to receiver. I downloaded an instruction manual that details how to take gun apart, but haven't got that brave yet. Not just to look for numbers/markings anyway.

At least someone else confirms that there are some with no serial numbers.

Thanks guys

You don't even want to take one apart!
Believe me!

It can be done, but it's not to be undertaken lightly!
BTDT more then once!
Never again!

rcmodel: Let's clarify your statement. This rifle is so easy to take apart it's not even funny. Just don't get carried away. Remove charging handle. Remove the 2 screws that holds the receiver on. Pull receiver off. Pull out ejector on left of gun. Remove bbl. retainer and pull out bbl. Clean bbl, ramp, etc. Reassemble in reverse order. Total time 15 minutes and she's good to go another 10,000 rounds.
