O.K now I get it! 1911 + 45 acp = the best.

I have to confess that I have been a 1911 and 45 acp skeptic. I held firm that the 9mm and plastic pistols ruled the day. I know all of the bullet points on why a 9mm is overall a better round and also why all of the wonder pistols are superior than the 1911 design:neener: I made the mistake of buying a Kimber Eclipse and started to eat a little crow. After a trip to the range with my new (used) springfield loaded and I now have to swallow my pride and admit it:fire:the 1911 and 45 acp is the best pistol and round:eek:I now know why all of you 1911 fans stick to the old browning design. For me it comes down to accuracy! I know it only holds 7 or 8 rounds, but daggone it I am soo much more accurate with the 1911, and the 45 recoil is more pleasant to me than the 9mm? go figure. I will not sell my S&W M&P 9mm , but lets just say it will be the only 9mm I keep. I dont know why I didnt figure it out sooner, but at least I figured it out:evil:

I have both, accuracy counts on both.

However, did you know that a Sig P229 SCT, comes with 4 17rd mags.

    That's 68 + 1 rounds of accuracy :neener:

I grin every time I wrap my fingers around a 1911... I dont get that with any other pistol.

Yep the 1911's are sweet, but sometimes I grin when I wrap my fingers around any pistol.

    Isn't the Kool-Aid sweet?

My small-framed girlfriend prefers a 1911 in .45 over a 9mm any day - and she can shoot anything she gets her hands on. I do like her Sig P225, tho.

I was at a range last year, next to a quite petite gal in her mid-forties, and her 13+/- year old son. She was having a fairish time shooting their Glock 19, but voiced some fear over trying the 1911. Big bullets must really kick, right? I told her that the steel 1911 was a fair bit heavier than the Glock, which would soak up the "kick". Didn't say anything else. Man, she loved that 1911! Her small hands wrapped around the single stack frame more easily, and the .45 "push" was much easier for her than the 9mm "snap". Yup- .45 1911's are special, including for those with little mitts.

And then you shoot a nice 9mm 1911 and another gun move into the house.

If you want accuracy in a 1911, get a 9mm 1911. If you want more accuracy in a 9mm, get a Luger.
